Empowering rural women is a way forward idea to create a stronger India. The rural women lack the privilege of going to school. Adult education and several NGO’s work for the upliftment of the backward classes in the villages. It is important for the women in the rural India to have a good self esteem. The problem of early or child marriages is not allowed and any reports of the same qualify for punishment. It is important to give the
girl child the security of education and equip her with a skill that will help her earn a living.
The reliance of rural women on the older men in the family is very high. They dictate terms of livelihood. This dwarfs their self esteem and they are submissive in nature. They are not allowed the privilege of communal mingling and a lot of restrictions are still a problem. The emancipation of the women has to be held on a large scale. The government is giving many facilities towards educating the rural woman. Night schools are conducted for them to realize the power of education.
Most women in the rural area face severe health problems. With a hand to mouth existence and a large family to feed, women sacrifice their meals. The result is that women get anemic and this manifests into major health issues. Living a life of dignity is her right and women are equipping themselves with small scale industries. They work on wages and this helps them collect funds in special savings account for women. With access and telecommunication even the remote areas now have a good network system.
Finance and loan schemes support the small scale units. They can apply for the loan and make the best of the privileges. The effort of the government has to be seconded by the male members in the rural areas. Though access is tough, the tribal belts are certainly a priority for the government to aid better living facilities to all the tribal people.
